Getting Started & Studio Info
What is Risograph printing?
Risograph printing is a stencil‑based process similar to screen printing. Each colour is printed separately and layered to create multi‑colour artwork. You can learn more in our Printing with us page.
Do I need to do an induction before printing?
Yes, everyone must complete our Induction Workshop before booking open‑access printing. It ensures you can print safely and independently.
Do you help during 1-2-1 print sessions?
Yes, we are on hand to offer as much help as needed!
Can I cancel or reschedule a booking?
Yes, if you cancel via Eventbrite/SumUp at least 7 days before your booking, you will get a refund minus the booking fee.
Is the studio accessible?
Unfortunately, the space is not wheelchair accessible. We are located on the ground floor, but there are five steps leading up to the entrance. More information can be found in Planning your visit.
Are there toilets?
Yes, there are toilets located in the building on the same floor as our print studio.
Artwork & File Preparation
What artwork formats do you accept?
Your artwork should be arranged on a A3 sheet or PDF. Please print your grey scale colour separated files beforehand.
Do you offer digital colour‑splitting support?
Yes, we can assist with digital layer separation during your session using Photoshop. Just be aware that this will eat into your booked out printing time. You can also use Spectrolite, a free app designed for Riso colour prep.
Feel free to email us your files at antsyprinters@gmail.com if you would like us to double-check them before your session. Please make sure to send them at least 24 hours in advance so we have enough time to review them.
Can I print double‑sided or multi‑colour work?
Yes, you can print multi‑colour, double‑sided, and zine formats. Just factor in extra masters and ink passes.
Paper, Ink & Printing
What ink colours do you have?
We currently stock 6 colours: Black, Bright Red, Yellow, Blue, Green, Fluorescent Pink.
What paper do you provide?
We stock:
- A3 & A4 70gsm white copier paper
- A3 Context White 170gsm
- You’re welcome to bring your own Riso‑safe paper.
How much does printing cost?
Printing costs are based on the cost of the print slot, masters, ink passes, and paper. You can see the full breakdown and cost calculator in our 1-2-1 printing section.
How many colours should I use?
We recommend 1–4 colours for artwork and no more than 2 colours for zines. Bear in mind the more colours used, the harder it will be to align all the layers.
How long does Riso ink take to dry?
Riso ink can smudge if handled too soon. We recommend giving your prints time to settle and dry before touching the surface, especially if you’re planning to fold, bind, or construct zines.
Will my prints be perfectly aligned?
Riso is known for its slight misregistration, it’s part of the charm. If you need tight alignment, the less colours the better.
